·      50 cars already registered for the 2024 Hankook 6H ABU DHABI, final round of CREVENTIC’s 24H SERIES Middle East Trophy 2023/2024 title race.

·      2021 event winner Car Collection Motorsport in the hunt once again.

·      Alpine on 24H SERIES grid for very first time; series debut for Ligier JS P4.

GENNEP (15 November, 2023) – The fourth annual Hankook 6H ABU DHABI is on course to celebrate its strongest grid to-date, with 50 cars already registered for the CREVENTIC event on 20-21 January.

The final round of CREVENTIC’s 2023/2024 24H SERIES Middle East Trophy powered by Hankook will be hosted at the world famous Yas Marina Circuit, and already has a stellar 50 cars registered. On the provisional entry list so far are two of the event’s former outright winners, as well as reigning / former 24H SERIES champions.

Tellingly, only nine teams registered so far for Abu Dhabi have not confirmed a car for Dubai, a testament to the increased traction of CREVENTIC’s three-round, Middle East program.

GT3

The event’s inaugural winner is set to make its return on 20-21 January. Car Collection Motorsport, also victorious at the Hankook 24H DUBAI in 2019, led the field over the line at the inaugural Hankook 6H ABU DHABI in 2021, and will enter both its tenured Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II and its new Porsche 992 GT3 R in the hopes of securing a second win.

2017 Overall GT Teams’ ‘Continents’ champion Herberth Motorsport will also compete at Yas Marina. The German team’s near-win at the 2023 Hankook 6H ABU DHABI (check out ‘Did you know…?’ below) was made all the more impressive by the fact the Porsche GT3 R started from 19th on the grid.

Also fielding a Porsche 911 GT3 R, Saalocin by Kox Racing, the eponymous entry of former Le Mans class winner Peter Kox, returns to the event at which it finished 3rd overall in 2022. Haas RT will similarly be looking to equal, if not improve upon, its 3rd place at this year’s event with its Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II. Having impressed on its maiden race at the 2023 Hankook 24H DUBAI, the Antiguan team secured its first-ever podium one week later in Abu Dhabi.

Surprisingly, the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI is an event at which 24H SERIES pillar, and 2022 GT Continents Trophy winner, CP Racing has yet to compete. An outlier the American team is on course to rectify with its Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Hankook 24H DUBAI stalwart Attempto Racing returns to the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI – an event at which the German team started from the front row in 2021 – with its Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II. ARC Bratislava is also set to make its event return, one year on from claiming GT3-AM honours with its Lamborghini Huracán GT3.

Newly-crowned 992 Teams’ ‘Europe’ champion Manamauri Energy by Ebimotors, previously ‘Willi Motorsport by Ebimotors,’ continues its transition to the GT3 field in Abu Dhabi with its brand-new Porsche 992 GT3 R. Like CP Racing, Ebimotors will contest the full 24H SERIES Middle East Trophy campaign, as will Britain’s Century Motorsport, the latter with one of the two BMW M4 GT3s it has entered for Abu Dhabi.

The UAE’s Dragon Racing ensures Ferrari will be represented on the grid in 2024, the five-time Hankook 24H DUBAI class winner having registered one of its new 296 GT3s for the team’s event debut. Appropriately, Ferrari is a former outright winner of the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI courtesy of Baron Motorsport’s win in 2022.

Fresh from their debuts with CREVENTIC one week earlier in Dubai, Greystone GT and Modena Silverstone Ltd. have also registered for the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI with a McLaren 720S GT3 and an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 respectively. Series debutant Race Lab has also expressed an interest in competing with a McLaren 720S GT3. Fitting, given that Woking’s flagship GT3 secured pole position for the inaugural Hankook 6H ABU DHABI in 2021.

992

The 2024 Hankook 6H ABU DHABI is set to feature its biggest 992 field to-date, with 10 entries already registered for the 20-21 January weekend.

24H SERIES pillar HRT Performance headlines the class. The German team finished 3rd in-class at the event in 2022, following that up with a double podium and 992-Am class win in 2023. HRT will no doubt hope to secure a hattrick with its three-strong Porsche 992 GT3 Cup line-up.

Fellow series staple, and multi-time Dubai class winner, MRS GT-Racing also has one entry confirmed for its Hankook 6H ABU DHABI debut.

Abu Dhabi-based Rabdan Motorsport impressed with a measured drive to 2nd in-class in 2022, its first podium finish with CREVENTIC. The Abu Dhabi team has registered as ‘Rabdan by Fulgenzi for the 2024 edition.

Series debutant KKrämer Racing, which will field a two-car entry, and SebLajoux Racing by DUWO Racing round out the 992 field so far, the latter continuing its UAE sojourn with former CUP1 Teams’ champion DUWO Racing in Abu Dhabi.

GTX

The 2024 Hankook 6H ABU DHABI is on course to feature the 24H SERIES’ largest GTX contingent yet, with EIGHT entries encompassing SIX different manufacturers confirmed.

2019 Overall GT Teams’ ‘Continents’ champion Leipert Motorsport boasts an impressive record at the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI. Save a Free Practice accident that eliminated the German team ahead of this year’s race, Leipert finished 2nd overall in 2021 and in the top five in 2022, and is expected to be a GTX frontrunner in January with its Lamborghini Hurácan Super Trofeo. Series debutant Scott Sport will also represent the Raging Bull at Yas Marina.

Another pre-race favourite will be the KTM X-BOW GTX of razoon – more than racing. The Austrian team secured class victory at the 2023 event en-route to a GTX Middle East Trophy title win. Having registered for all three of CREVENTIC’s Middle Eastern events in 2023/2024, razoon will hope to successfully defend its category championship in Abu Dhabi.

Fresh from the model’s reveal at the Hankook 24H BARCELONA, and having already confirmed its Hankook 24H DUBAI entry, Vortex V8’s brand-new ‘2.0’ version of its lightweight bespoke sportscar will also be in action in Abu Dhabi. Toro Verde meanwhile continues its standalone 24H SERIES campaign with two entries for Yas Marina: a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup in the 992 class, and a Ginetta G56 Cup in the GTX category.

Portugal’s P21 Motorsport is gearing up for its third run at the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI with two Porsche 911 GT3 Cups – one a 991.1-generation, the other a 991.2 – a year on from its GTX podium finish in 2023.

Series debutant Jolt Racing rounds out the GTX field with a Ligier JS P4, marking the first time the legendary French marque’s sport prototype has ever competed in the 24H SERIES.

GT4

Two teams have doubled up with entries in both the GT3 and GT4 categories. Century Motorsport, a former SP3 class winner in Dubai, makes its Hankook 6H ABU DHABI debut with a three-car line-up, having confirmed a BMW M4 GT4 alongside its two-car GT3 entry. As well as its 720S GT3, series newcomer Greystone GT has also entered McLaren’s new Artura GT4.

Like Century, Simpson Motorsport will field a ‘G82’-generation BMW M4 GT4 in Abu Dhabi. The British team, which will compete as ‘BMW AGMC Racing team by Simpson Motorsport,’ contested the inaugural event in 2021, and took a classified 3rd in-class at this year’s race on only its second endurance run with the BMW.

PCR Sport makes its return to Abu Dhabi with two Mercedes-AMG GT4s, two years on from the Spanish team’s podium finish in TCR. Continental Racing continues its first Middle East Trophy campaign with a brand-new Toyota Supra GT4, marking the first time the Japanese brand has ever been represented at the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI.

Intriguingly, one of Continental Racing’s direct rivals will be Speedworks Motorsport, which will also field a Supra GT4 in Abu Dhabi on its first 24H SERIES event since the Hankook 3X3H DUBAI back in 2017.

TCR and TCX

CWS Engineering was on the grid for the first two editions of the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI, debuting its then-new Ginetta G56 at the 2022 edition before going on to take a class podium later that same weekend. As it did in 2021 and 2022, the British team has once again registered two cars for 20-21 January, namely two Ginetta G55s in the TCX class.

Among CWS’ closest rivals will be France’s Race Track Competition, which has entered a Lamera Cup – an example of which finished on the event’s ‘Touring Car’ class podium in 2022 – for its first 24H SERIES event.

AC Motorsport, which won the event’s TCR class in 2022, and three-time Overall TCE Teams’ champion Wolf-Power Racing will continue their long-standing rivalry at Yas Marina, each with an Audi RS 3 LMS. Tellingly, both teams finished on the TCR podium in 2023.

Alongside its GT4 entry, Simpson Motorsport has registered an Audi RS 3 LMS TCR for Yas Marina, mirroring the British team’s ‘TG’ entry – also with a TCR Audi – at the inaugural Hankook 6H ABU DHABI in 2021.

Series newcomer Chazel Technologie Course is the final entry registered so far, the French team having confirmed two Alpine A110 Cups for the TCX class. The 2024 Hankook 6H ABU DHABI is on course therefore to be the first CREVENTIC event at which the legendary French marque has featured on the grid.

Hankook 6H ABU DHABI. Did you know…?

·      Pure Rxcing’s victory in 2023, 7.226 seconds clear of Herberth Motorsport, is one of the closest winning margins in 24H SERIES history. So close was the finish, 3rd-placed Haas RT was only 2.8 seconds behind Herberth and just over 10 seconds behind Pure Rxcing.

·      Across the first three editions of the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI, nine different teams have finished on the overall podium. Theoretically, with seven of those nine back on the grid, we could get our first outright repeat podium finisher on 21 January.

·      Similarly, while Audi (2021), Ferrari (2022) and Porsche (2023) have all taken overall wins, Porsche currently has the most overall podium finishes at the event with four, compared with two for Audi and one apiece for Ferrari, Lamborghini and BMW.
